Cougars Ready for Regionals
The Southern Illinois University Edwardsville women's cross country team will vie for a top-five finish in Saturday's NCAA Regional meet, hoping to move on to the NCAA Division II Championships in two weeks.
The top-five team finishers move on to the NCAA Championships. The top-two individual finishers not on a qualifying team will also participate in the Championship.
"As a team, I think we are in contention," said Coach Darryl Frerker. "I think us and about four teams are in contention for the fifth spot."
The regional meet will be held at Grand Valley State University.
SIUE is coming off a fourth-place finish at the Great Lakes Valley Conference meet two weeks ago. Amanda Bozue (Joliet) was SIUE's top runner with a 12-th place finish.
