October 22, 2002 Cougars Eye GLVC Crown        The Southern Illinois University Edwardsville women's cross country team has begun preparation for the Great Lakes Valley Conference Championships. The meet will take place Saturday at Wisconsin-Parkside.        Senior Amanda Bozue (Joliet), who will be competing in her final conference meet, should be near the front of the pack. Carrie Carducci (Powell, Ohio), Mary Witte (Normal), Maria Ewersmann (St. Paul, Mo.) and Breanne Steffens (Moline) also could contend for all-conference honors as one of the top 10 runners.        Host Wisconsin-Parkside is one of the top contenders for the GLVC title.        "Wisconsin-Parkside defeated us on our course," said Coach Darryl Frerker, "and we're going to see if we can return the favor and beat them on their course.        "I think we're ready to go. This is the strongest and deepest team I think we have had in quite some time, and we're looking forward to the competition."               -siue cougars-
