Cross Country Heads to Illinois State
This weekend the Cougars are traveling to Illinois State. “It is hard to anticipate how the meet will go,” said Frerker. “The course there is new, but hopefully the ground will be firmer so we can relax and compete.” The SIUE women’s team finished third at last week’s Purdue Invitational behind Purdue University and the University of Iowa. SIUE’s first runner to finish, Breanne Steffens (Moline), placed 10th followed by Amanda Bozue (Joliet) who finished 13th. “Steffens ran very well this weekend,” said Frerker. “She and Bozue ran well and were in the top 15 so they received awards.” The men’s team placed fifth behind Iowa, the University of Illinois, Purdue, and Western Michigan University. Ryan Boyll (Normal) was the first runner in the chute from SIUE. Boyll placed 28th in a time of 26 minutes, 34.80 seconds. “Boyll ran a great race,” said Freker. “He was very focused and ran tough.” |
