October 2, 2007 Brown, Steffens Lead SIUE Cross Country at the Saluki Invite           Kayla Brown (Petersburg) and Erik Steffens (Moline) led the Southern Illinois University Edwardsville cross country teams at the Saluki Invitational.           Posting a time of 18:28.60 in the women's 5,000-meter run, Brown was able to capture the victory for SIUE. In the men's 8,000-meter run, Steffens finished third with a time of 25:52.63.           Maggie Krall (Bloomington), Stephanie Briggs (Argenta), Stacey Briggs (Argenta), and Kelly Flounders (Homer Glen) also ran for the Cougars. The women's team finished fourth overall.           Averaging a time of 27:38.23, the men's team finished third at the Saluki Invite. In addition to Steffens, Kyle Cameron (East Moline), Steven Werths (Granite City), Shawn Dillard (Granite City), Ryan Wessling (Lockport), and Sean Gosewisch (Lockport) led the Cougar charge.           Next up for the SIUE cross country program is Border States. This weekend, the SIUE cross country program will play host approximately 2,000 runners from all over the region, many of whom want to get a look at the course for the NCAA Division II Regional Championships on Nov. 3.           The first race for Border States starts at 10:00 am.                     -siue cougars-
