October 12, 2005 Taghon Named GLVC Runner of the Week EDWARDSVILLE, ILL. - Senior Brian Taghon (East Moline) has been named Great Lakes Valley Conference Runner of the Week. Taghon finished third out of 286 runners at the Illinois/Missouri Border Wars Championship. Taghon’s time for the challenging 8k course was 25:23, 13 seconds off of the leader. He guided the Cougars to a fifth place finish. Taghon has finished in the top five of every event he has raced in this season. He has finished first this year at the EIU Panther Open on Sept. 17 and the Sean Earl Loyola Lakefront Invitational on Oct 1. The Cougars travel to Decatur, Ill. for the Millikin Invitational Saturday at 4 p.m. -siue cougars- |
