August 14, 2007 SIUE Baseball Adds Bennett for 2008         EDWARDSVILLE, Ill. -- The Southern Illinois University Edwardsville baseball team has added Daniel Bennett (Klamath Falls, Ore.) for the 2008 season.         Bennett was a starting right-handed pitcher for Taft Community College in Taft, Calif. Last season, he posted a 5-7 record and a 3.99 earned run average.         "Daniel throws three pitches for strikes and has a very good understanding of the game. We expect him to pitch a lot of innings for us," said assistant coach Tony Stoecklin.         SIUE is coming off a 37-17 record and posted the best regular season mark in the Great Lakes Valley Conference of 26-10 this past season. The Cougars also advanced to the NCAA Division II Tournament for the second straight season.                 -siue cougars-
