Cummings, Wooley Go the Distance; Split with Pumas
          EDWARDSVILLE, Ill. -- The Southern Illinois University Edwardsville baseball team split two games with No. 10 Saint Joseph's College Sunday.
          SIUE is now 21-23 overall and 15-13 in Great Lakes Valley Conference play. The Cougars sit in third place behind Drury (26-18, 14-11 GLVC) in the GLVC West Division.
          Saint Joseph's won game one Sunday 5-3. The SIUE Cougars followed up with a 5-4 win in the nightcap.
          In the first game, SIUE tied the game at three in the sixth inning with a Daniel Thomson (Brisbane, Australia) single to left, scoring Josh Street (Defiance, Mo.).
          SJC took the lead back at the top of the seventh when Matt Reimer doubled to left center and scored two runs. SIUE lost the contest 5-3, with Aren Cummings receiving the loss. Cummings went the distance, striking out two and giving up just one earned run.
          In game two, SIUE took the lead for good in the sixth when Ben Bartley (Griffith, Ind.) singled up the middle to score Michael Hopkins (St. Charles, Mo.). Saint Joseph's Chris Chojnowski took his first loss of the season as he struck out six in the nine-inning game.
          Nick Wooley went the distance for SIUE. He picked up his first victory, bringing his record to 1-1. Wooley struck out nine batters during the contest.
          SIUE remains at home for a Wednesday non-conference game with Lindenwood. Game time is 7 p.m. at SimmonsCooper Complex. The Cougars close out the regular season next weekend with a four-game series against Missouri S&T.
