April 1, 2008 Errors, Walks Cost Cougars EDWARDSVILLE, Ill. - Southern Indiana took advantage of four Southern Illinois University Edwardsville errors and 10 walks in a 7-1 defeat of the Cougars Tuesday in Great Lakes Valley Conference baseball. SIUE, now 11-12 overall and 5-7 in the GLVC, lost for the third time in four games against Southern Indiana, which improved to 18-9 overall and 9-2 in the GLVC. USI's Cory Julian defeated the Cougars for the second time in five days at Roy Lee Field. The left-hander went seven innings and did not allow a run. Casey Geiger threw the final two innings for USI. SIUE scored its only run in the eighth when Michael Hopkins singled home Cory Bunner. USI's bats provided just seven hits. The Screaming Eagles scored two unearned runs in the second inning off an SIUE infield error with the bases loaded. USI later scored three of its four runs in the seventh inning off base-loaded walks. SIUE next travels to Warrensburg, Mo., Wednesday for a 6 p.m. game at Central Missouri. -siue cougars- |
