EDWARDSVILLE, ILL. -- Southern Illinois University Edwardsville took two from Rockhurst University 7-5 and 3-1 Thursday at Roy Lee Field.
SIUE's baseball team improved its record to 20-11 overall and 14-8 in the Great Lakes Valley Conference while Rockhurst fell to 17-18 overall and 10-12 in the GLVC. The Cougars are currently tied for third place in the league race. The top six teams advance to the GLVC Tournament.
In the first game, SIUE rallied for three runs in the bottom of the sixth when Michael DalPozzo drove in Steve Doll. Cory Bunner later tripled home DalPozzo and Zach Stead in. The three runs in the bottom of the sixth put SIUE up 7-5 for the win.
SIUE's Adam Schneider picked up his second win of the season while RU's J.P. McGrath took home the loss.
In the nightcap, SIUE started off strong with a two-run first inning that included a single to right field by James Kulovitz that brought home Bartley and Ryan Czyz.
The Cougars did not look back after that and added a run in the fifth with Bartley's tipple that brought home Czyz.
Gerad Bryan pushed his record to 5-0 while Cody Litteken picked up his first save of the season. Rockhurst's Tom McVey received the loss.
