SIUE Rallies Past KWC
        EDWARDSVILLE, Ill. -- Southern Illinois University Edwardsville baseball rallied for 12 runs in the second inning of Saturday's nightcap and went on to an 18-0 victory over Kentucky Wesleyan.
        SIUE was defeated by KWC in Saturday's first game 4-0.
        The Cougars, 16-8 overall and 10-6 in the Great Lakes Valley Conference, play one more conference game with Kentucky Wesleyan Sunday at noon. The Panthers are now 9-20 overall and 6-8 in the GLVC.
        James Hertel fanned 14 batters in the second game of the doubleheader, going eight innings and allowing just two hits. David Scott worked the final inning and struck out three batters.
        But it was the Cougar offense which exploited KWC errors for 12 runs in the secong inning, nearly batting around twice. SIUE scored its other six runs in the bottom of the eighth after a 22-minute rain delay.
        Michael DalPozzo led the offense with four hits and four runs batted in. SIUE also took advantage of seven Kentucky Wesleyan errors.
        In game one, Randy Fulton tossed a three-hit shutout. He struck out seven and stranded seven SIUE baserunners in the seven-inning game.
        Neil Holmes and Matt Martin provided RBI hits in the second inning for Kentucky Wesleyan. Timmy Wimsatt singled home a pair of runs in the fifth inning.
