2006 GLVC Baseball Tournament Heads to Sauget, Ill. INDIANAPOLIS, Ind. - The Great Lakes Valley Conference (GLVC) has announced that the 2006 GLVC Baseball Tournament will be played at GMC Stadium in Sauget, Ill. The NCAA Division II six-team wood bat tournament is set to take place May 11-14. This year’s tournament will feature over 200 student-athletes and coaches from GLVC institutions around the Midwest. The GLVC was the first NCAA Division II league to use wood bats exclusively in conference play and is currently one of only two D-II leagues to continue wood bat use. GMC Stadium is home to the Gateway Grizzlies of the Frontier League. The ballpark holds 6,000 fans and was named 2005 Ballpark of the Year by digitalballparks.com The double-elimination tournament begins with three games on Thu., May 11, at 1 p.m., 4p.m., and 7p.m., and culminates with the championship game on Sun., May 14 at noon. An all-tournament pass can be purchased for $25, while day passes are $10 for adults and $5 for students and K-12 Thursday-Saturday, and $8 for adults and $3 for students and K-12 on Sunday. Each daily pass is good for all of that day’s games, and children 5 and under are free for the whole event. Tournament merchandise will be sold at the games as well. UW-Parkside won the 2005 GLVC Tournament and advanced to the NCAA Tournament along with Saint Joseph's College.
