Cougars Sign Amerson
EDWARDSVILLE, Ill. - Southern Illinois University Edwardsville baseball coach Gary Collins announced today the signing of Kyle Amerson (Springfield) for his 2006 roster.
Amerson comes to SIUE from Springfield College where he has played his last two seasons. Amerson becomes the ninth player to sign for SIUE's 2006 recruiting class.
Amerson, a 6-foot-1-inch outfielder, held a .382 batting average with 66 hits, 17 doubles, nine triples, seven home runs, 40 RBIs, and a .705 slugging percentage last season.
Amerson was named 2004 Defensive Player of the Year at Springfield College.
"He has been an outstanding outfielder and hitter for Springfield College," said SIUE assistant coach Tony Stoecklin. "Kyle has had great production at the plate getting extra base hits and RBIs. We expect him to come here and provide production to our lineup."
Amerson joins fell Springfield College teammates Quinn Allen and Adam Schnieder, who have already signed to play for SIUE in 2006.
Amerson played baseball at Sacred Heart-Griffin High School in Springfield.
