May 7, 2005 SIUE Baseball Grabs No. 4 Seed         EDWARDSVILLE, Ill. - Southern Illinois University Edwardsville garnered the No. 4 seed for the Great Lakes Valley Conference Tournament and will play third-seeded Rockhurst in the opening round Thursday at 7 p.m. at GCS Ballpark in Sauget.         The Cougars finished the regular season with a split against Missouri-St. Louis in a doubleheader played at GCS Ballpark. SIUE won the opener 3-1 but fell in the nightcap 6-0.         SIUE enters the GLVC Tournament with a 37-15-1 record, the most wins by a Cougar team since 2001 when SIUE was 41-27. Rockhurst edged SIUE by percentage points in the regular season standings only due to SIUE playing an extra game and tying top-seeded Northern Kentucky. Rockhurst has an overall record of 34-18 and 30-14 in league play.         The Cougars also set a new standard for GLVC wins in a season. The previous best was 19. SIUE far surpassed that with 30 this season.         Cameron Cheek ran his record to 5-2 this season with a 3-1 win in the opener. He struck out seven and scattered four hits.         SIUE managed six hits in the nightcap but left seven runners on base. Mike Lantzy threw a complete-game shutout for the Rivermen, which finished the season 20-26 overall and 19-24 in the GLVC.                 -siue cougars-
