GLVC Baseball Pitcher/Player of the Week SJC's Victor Player of the Week; NKU's Moeves and SJC's Stitz split Pitching Honors Indianapolis, IN – Northern Kentucky's Derrik Moeves (Fort Thomas, Ky./Highlands) and Saint Joseph's Mike Stitz (Remington, Ind./Parkland CC) both earned two wins during the week to earn Great Lakes Valley Conference Co-Pitcher of the Week accolades, while Saint Joseph's Mike Victor (Mokena, Ill./Lincoln Way Central) is the GLVC Player of the Week after hitting .565 during the last week of regular-season league action. Moeves began the week by coming out of the bullpen and pitching 2 2/3 scoreless innings of relief for the Norse in a 10-4 win over Bellarmine on Wednesday. He picked up the win in that game and struck out four batters. Moeves then capped the week with a 5-0 shutout against Southern Indiana on Saturday, where he struck out five and recorded his second shutout of the season. The junior's effort on the mound helped him become Northern Kentucky's all-time career strikeout leader (251). Stitz helped Saint Joseph's clinch the GLVC regular-season title and earn the top seed for this week's conference tournament. The senior righty made his first relief appearance of the season Wednesday at UW-Parkside, entering the game with the Pumas trailing 1-0. He allowed the Pumas to come back with a 6-2 win. Stitz then became the seventh pitcher in SJC history to win nine games in a season on Sunday with his victory over Missouri-St. Louis. Stitz ends the GLVC regular season with a 7-0 record in league play. Victor also contributed to the Pumas 5-1 week. The junior third baseman recorded six multi-hit games and doubled in five of the week's six games. Victor scored the winning run in Wednesday's second game at league co-leader UW-Parkside. He then drove in the last three runs of a six-run rally in the seventh inning on Saturday, where the Pumas came from behind to beat host Missouri-St. Louis in the weekend's first game. On Sunday, Victor tied the first game with a two-run single in the fifth inning, and SJC went on to win 5-2. For the week, Victor hit .565 with 13 hits, 12 RBI, five doubles, and four runs.
