Baseball Cougars Sign Bond
(EDWARDSVILLE, Ill.) Jeremy Bond, a second baseman from Alton, has signed to play baseball next season with Southern Illinois University Edwardsville.
SIUE Coach Gary Collins said the addition of Bond, who previously played for the Blue Storm at Southwestern Illinois College, gives the Cougars a quality player for the middle infield.
"I expect Jeremy to hit lead off and play a qualify second base," said Collins.
Bond, a left-handed hitter who throws right-handed, batted .327 last season with SWIC with 25 runs batted in and six stolen bases. SWIC finished the 2004 season with a 37-20-1 record before bowing out of the Region 24 Tournament.
Bond was a third team All-Metro selection by the St. Louis Post-Dispatch his senior season and a three-time All-Area selection by Alton Telegraph and Belleville News-Democrat.
