Darnall Signs with SIUE Baseball
Jeff Darnall, of Atlanta, Ill., will join the baseball team for Southern Illinois University Edwardsville next season.
Darnall batted .399 with eight home runs and 65 runs batted in for Parkland College. He was named the team’s Most Valuable Player while posting a team-leading 77 hits with 36 extra-base hits.
“He’s an excellent outfielder with a great arm. He’ll add a good left-handed bat in the lineup,” said SIUE Coach Gary Collins. The Cougars hope to place Darnall in right field next season.
Darnall, who will be a junior next season, helped the Cobras to a 90-33 record in two seasons. The 2003 team placed fourth at the National Junior College Athletic Association World Series.
Darnall played prep baseball at Olympia High School, which won the 2002 Class A state championship.
