Knights Sweep Cougars
        EDWARDSVILLE, Ill. - Southern Illinois University Edwardsville dropped a doubleheader to Bellarmine 4-3 and 9-4 on Sunday, eliminating the Cougars from the Great Lakes Valley Conference Tournament lineup.
        SIUE ends its season with a record of 28-27 overall and 19-21 in the conference. With the two losses the Cougars fall to seventh place in the GLVC with the top six teams making the tournament. Bellarmine improves to 27-29 overall and 20-18 in the league.
        The Cougars took 2-1 in the second inning of the opener after RBI hits by Robert Rahn and Joe Wargo. The Knights scored three runs in the fourth inning on two hits and two errors by SIUE taking a 4-2 lead.
        Adam Tallman pitched seven innings giving up two earned runs on six hits to end his season with a 2-5 mark. Wargo and Tallman each picked up two hits in the contest.
        In the night cap, Jarad Rettberg threw five innings of shutout baseball until Bellarmine scored two runs in both the sixth and seventh innings taking a 4-0 advantage.
        The Cougars would fight back sending nine men to the plate in the seventh inning scoring four runs with two outs to tie the game.
        Jake Smith and Cory Bunner each notched two-run doubles in the inning.
        Rettberg took the no decision pitching six and two-thirds innings giving up one earned run while fanning six.
        Bellarmine broke the game open in the eighth inning. With two outs and a runner on first, SIUE pitcher Clay Zavada walked two batters to load the bases, and Shawn O'Dell's two-run single gave the Knights the lead for good. Jeff Dillman's two-run triple later in the inning added to the Bellarmine lead as they scored four runs in the frame.
