April 26, 2005 Cougars Take Two From Quincy EDWARDSVILLE, ILL.- Craig Ohlau's four-hit, four-RBI day led Southern Illinois University Edwardville to a sweep of Quincy 3-0 and 5-1 on Tuesday afternoon in Great Lakes Valley Conference action at Roy Lee Field. Ohlau blasted a two-run homer, his first of the year, in game one. Then he delivered a two-run double in the third inning of game two, leading SIUE in its first game at Roy Lee Field this season. The Cougars are now tied with the Hawks for fifth place in the GLVC with both teams holding 16-14 records. SIUE improves to 25-20 overall as the Cougars won for the 11th time in 14 games. Quincy falls to 24-22 on the season. Kyle Jones and Cameron Cheek were both outstanding with each player picking his seventh win of the season, tied for the league best in the GLVC. Jones threw a three-hitter fanning seven for his third complete game shutout in game one. Cheek pitched eight innings in the nightcap giving up one run, scattering six hits. The Atlanta native holds a 6-0 mark with a 1.30 earned run average in conference play. Bryan Newby launched his second home run of the season, an opposite field shot, going 2-3 in game one. Cory Bunner and Jake Smith each went 2-4, and third basemen Robert Rahn doubled home a run in the second game. SIUE continues its homestand as Indianapolis visits Roy Lee Field on Saturday afternoon at 1 p.m. -siue cougars- |
