Cougars Sign Martin, Tallman
SIUE baseball coach Gary Collins today announced Kyle Martin (Byron) and Adam Tallman (Gillespie) have signed national letters of intent to attend SIUE and play baseball for the Cougars. Both will have four years of eligibility beginning next spring.
Martin, who is in his senior year at Byron High School, was recruited as a middle infielder. Collins indicated he can pitch and will get an opportunity to do so at SIUE.
“Kyle is a good hitter and has a good arm,” Collins said. “Hopefully he’ll become an everyday player quickly. He should bring some speed and good defense to the team.”
Tallman, currently a senior at Gillespie High School, is a right-handed pitcher who Collins feels can also contribute at the plate.
“Adam will come here as a pitcher,” Collins said. “He is also a good hitter, and we’ll give him a chance to hit.
“I expect Kyle and Adam to make a contribution next year. They will both be given a chance to win a job.”
