Cougars Split at Lewis
         Nick Seibert (Edwardsville) threw seven-plus innings of shutout baseball as Southern Illinois University Edwardsville split Saturday at Lewis.
         SIUE, 10-12 overall and 5-7 in the Great Lakes Valley Conference, won the nightcap 1-0 after losing the opening game of the doubleheader 2-1.
         Offense was at a premium in both games Saturday. Seibert hurled 7 2/3 innings and allowed four hits. Brad Hinton hurled the final four outs for SIUE for the save.
         SIUE scored its lone run of the second game in the fifth inning as Brad Scott doubled home Beau Moody.
         In the first game, Lewis scored one earned run and one unearned run off SIUE's Brian Keating.
         SIUE's offense stranded eight runners in the seven-inning game and was allowed just one unearned run off Lewis starter-winner Brett Meyer. Nathan Bradley earned the save for Lewis.
         Both teams play again Sunday for a doubleheader. Only the first game, a nine-inning contest, will count in the conference standings. First pitch is scheduled for noon.
