Keating Hurls No-Hitter

Brian Keating tossed the eighth no-hitter in SIUE history today in a seven-inning game against Wisconsin-Parkside at Roy Lee Field.
Keating allowed a walk in the second inning and he hit a batter in the sixth. Other than that, Keating cruised through the Wisconsin-Parkside batting order.
It is the fourth seven-inning no-hitter in Cougar history. The last no-hitter was thrown by Brian Matzenbacher in 1999.
SIUE scored four times in the sixth for the 4-0 victory in game-one of the doubleheader. Luke Humphrey, Jeff Schwierjohn, Wes Pickering and Robert Rahn all tallied RBIs for the Cougars.
Wisconsin-Parkside must have been saving its hits for the second game, as the Rangers exploded for 18 runs on 15 hits in an 18-5 win in the nightcap. Nick Seibert was tagged with the loss on the mound after he gave up 11 runs - six earned - in three innings pitched.
SIUE is now 7-9 overall and 3-4 in the GLVC. Wisconsin-Parkside is 5-7 and 2-3 in conference play.
Both teams will be in action tomorrow for another twin bill starting at noon at Roy Lee Field. The first game will be a nine-inning GLVC game, with the second being played as a seven-inning non-conference matchup.
