SIUE, KWC Split Doubleheader
SIUE's Jeff Schwierjohn hit a walk off grand slam in game one, but Kentucky Wesleyan salvaged a victory in game two as the two teams played to a split Friday in Great Lakes Valley Conference baseball action at Roy Lee Field.
In game one, the two teams were tied at four when Schwierjohn blasted a pitch over the right field fence to hand the Cougars the 8-4 victory. David Briesacher earned the victory on the mound, as he pitched 5.1 innings and allowed eight hits and three runs.
Kentucky Wesleyan jumped out to a 6-0 advantage through four innings in game two. SIUE cut the lead in half with three runs in the sixth inning on an RBI single by Jason Kessler and a two-run double by Nick Seibert. But the Cougars only had one hit from that point on as Kentucky Wesleyan held on to the 6-3 victory.
SIUE will now play host to Wisconsin-Parkside on Saturday and Sunday. The games were originally scheduled to be at Wisconsin-Parkside, but were moved to SIUE because of unplayable field conditions. Both meetings are doubleheaders and will start at noon at Roy Lee Field.
