March 19, 2002 Kessler Named GLVC Player of the Week Jason Kessler (Mattoon), a junior first baseman, has been named the Great Lakes Valley Conference's baseball Player of the Week. Kessler was 14 of 29 (.483) in seven games played, with 10 runs batted in and four runs scored on the week. Kessler was 3-4 with four RBIs and a run scored in SIUE's 12-3 win over Concord on the 12th as he had a double and a home run in that game. He hit another home run on the 14th against Concord in an 8-6 win as he went 2-5 with 2 RBIs and a run scored. The Cougars were 5-2 on the week. SIUE is next scheduled to play Wednesday when it travels to St. Louis to take on GLVC rival Missouri-St. Louis at 2 p.m. -siue cougars- |
