Policies and Procedures Coordination: Tutor Application process: Tutors can apply in person by meeting with the Tutoring Coordinator OR apply online at the link above. The application includes contact information, classes they wish to tutor, grades for those classes, overall GPA, availability, and the names and phone numbers of two references (one must be from a former professors in the subject(s) they wish to tutor). Tutor Selection: The selection of tutors will be made by the Tutor Coordinator and shall be based on the following criteria: Tutor Assignment: If the tutor meets all qualifications, the Tutor Coordinator will assign them to a student-athlete(s) for the appropriate courses. They will be given the student-athlete’s phone number and email (and vice versa) in order to make arrangements for tutoring sessions. They will also be given information on the mandatory training session they must attend. Tutor Training: At the beginning of each semester, all tutors will be required to attend a tutor-training session that is conducted by the Tutoring Coordinator. Any tutors who start tutoring in the middle of the semester will have to meet with the Tutoring Coordinator for training. Student tutors will be paid for their training time. The individual training consist of: Compensation for Tutors: Student tutors will be paid $7.00 per/hour. This rate is competitive with other tutoring programs on campus. Evaluation Of Student-Athletes: Every other week, tutors will be required to evaluate their tutoring sessions. The evaluation must include the following and will be shared with the student-athlete and their head coach as needed: Evaluation Of Tutors: At the end of the tutoring semester, each student-athlete will be asked to evaluate their tutor(s). Student-athletes will be asked to evaluate their tutor(s) on the following areas: Acceptable Tutoring Locations: All tutoring must take place in an academic setting that is free of distractions. This includes the Library, an empty classroom, designated tutoring labs, or the Vadalabene Conference Room, or study room. Tutoring MAY NOT take place in Residence Halls, Tutor’s or Student Athlete’s home or University dining areas. Termination of Tutor Assignment: Participating in the tutoring program as a student-athlete is a privledge. If a student-athlete is not repectful of this priviledge, a tutoring assignment may be terminated by the Tutoring Coordinator if any of the following take place: |
