Southern Illinois University Edwardsville Assistant to the Assistant Director of Athletics David Crouthers January 8, 2008 EDWARDSVILLE, Ill. -- Southern Illinois University Edwardsville graduate and former baseball standout Dave Crouthers has accepted the position of Assistant to the Assistant Athletic Director, effective immediately. Crouthers will assist the Athletic Director for Compliance and Student Services in expanding and maintaining academic services for SIUE student-athletes. His primary responsibilities will include counseling and mentoring student athletes; monitoring their academic progress; and assisting with the coordination of tutorial programs and study halls. Holding a bachelor of science degree in psychology in 2006 and a masters of science in sports management in 2007, both from SIUE, Crouthers also brings experience and a proven track record of success. From 2001-05, Crouthers pitched professionally for both the Baltimore Orioles and Chicago Cubs organizations. “As a former SIUE student-athlete and a professional baseball player, Dave brings not only a unique and special passion for SIUE, but also a great understanding of the academic challenges and time demands facing our student-athlete. In this new student services role as an academic advisor and compliance assistant, Dave soon will become an invaluable asset for our current and future cougars,” said SIUE Athletic Director Brad Hewitt. -siue cougars- |
