DeClue Named Academic Advisor/Compliance Coordinator for Athletics
Jacqueline DeClue, of Dupo, has been named the new Academic Advisor and Compliance Coordinator for SIUE Intercollegiate Athletics, replacing Martie Staser who left to pursue a position as a swimming coach at the University of Rochester.
The academic advisor is responsible for the advisement, registration and progress of all “non-declared” or “intent to declare” student-athletes and some academic support services for the Intercollegiate Athletics program insuring compliance with NCAA conference and University regulations. As the person in charge of SIUE’s implementation of the Life Skills Progam, the Academic Advisor also works closely with SIUE’s Student-Athlete Advisory Committee.
Since 2000, DeClue has been an academic advisor in the Office of Academic Counseling and Advising at SIUE. Her duties included advising students concerning University policies, career decisions, campus resourses and the selection of appropriate coursework. She has coordinated a university-wide Academic Success Workshop Series each semester. DeClue also worked the past year at SIUE as a coordinator and instructor to develop the Academic Choices and Transitions program for students on academic probation.
DeClue previously has worked as an academic advisor at Purdue and as a summer orientation academic advisor at Ball State.
A member of the National Academic Advising Association, DeClue received her bachelor’s degree from SIUE in liberal studies in 1997. In 1999, she earned a master’s degree in student personnel administration from Ball State.
