May 29, 2003 SIUE Places Second in GLVC All-Sports Trophy Race With a softball conference championship in hand, the Southern Illinois University Edwardsville athletic department finished second in this season's Great Lakes Valley Conference All-Sports Trophy standings. Indianapolis won the annual trophy given to the athletic department which accumulates the most points based on finishes in GLVC Championships and other GLVC-sponsored events. Indianapolis scored 101.5 points and was followed by SIU Edwardsville (94.5), Northern Kentucky (93.0), Southern Indiana (89), Lewis (84.0), Wisconsin-Parkside (69.5), Quincy (64.5), Bellarmine (64.0), Missouri-St. Louis (59) Saint Joseph's (53), and Kentucky Wesleyan (25). Along with softball, SIUE won a conference title in men's soccer. Lewis won the most GLVC titles with 5 followed by Indianapolis (3), Northern Kentucky (3), and SIUE (2). GLVC Commissioner Jim Naumovich awarded the traveling trophy at dinner earlier this week. -siue cougars- |
