Department of Anthropology Title

Rebecca

Hi! My name is Rebecca Hackett. I focused on cultural anthropology during my undergrad work in the Anthropology Department. My focus of study is East Asia, primarily Japan and China. I graduated from SIUE in the Spring of 2006. During the summer of 2006 I traveled to China with the Geography Field School led by Dr. Zhou and Dr. Lavallee. During this trip we traveled to Beijing and Xian. Currently, I am enrolled in the Master's program for History at SIUE. I am studying cultural history and hope to again focus on Japan.

I recently won the Weiss Award in History and I presented a paper called "Shaken Not Stirred: The Construction of Masculine Archetypes through the Films of 007 and the Domestication of the American Playboy" for the Mid-Atlantic Popular/American Culture Association in Nov. of 2007 in Philadelphia.
