The student senate needs help.

President Heather Mueller is looking for a new senator to fill the seat vacated by new Student Organization Advisory Board Chair Richard Box. She is also looking for an election commissioner.

At Friday's senate meeting, Mueller said she had narrowed the field to a few applicants, but said she was not sure who would fill the seats.

"I want to be absolutely sure before I bring someone to you," Mueller told the senate.

Any student interested in the positions can fill out an application in the Kimmel Leadership Center.

In other business, the senate approved a $2,532 program request to the Indian Students Association for "India Night."

Also, the senate approved two travel requests of $425 for the SIUE Constructors and the Newman Student Union, and a $413 travel request for Sigma Gamma Rho Sorority, Inc.

The next senate meeting will be 2:30 p.m. Friday, Feb. 25, in the Goshen Lounge of the Morris University Center.
