First confirmed case of bacterial meningitis reported from Residence Hall.
The freshman who was the first confirmed case of bacterial meningitis at Southern Illinois University at Edwardsville is said to be in excellent condition and was to be released on Wednesday.

Student Senate discusses funding problems

Senator Hobson receives Lincoln Academy Laureate Award
Senator Randy Hobson was recently named a Student Laureate by The Lincoln Academy of Illinois at the 22nd Annual Student Laureate Awards Ceremony held in Springfield on Sat., Nov. 23. Hobson was just one of the 51 students to receive the award at this year's ceremony.

An East Alton man, who sank a golf putt from 60 feet away, earned an outstanding prize during a halftime contest of Saturday's men's basketball game between Southern Illinois University at Edwardsville and Bellarmine College.

The SIUE men's basketball team will face heavy competition from undefeated Indianapolis tonight and Northern Kentucky Saturday afternoon.

Lady Cougars take sole possession of third place.
A third place tie in the Great Lakes Valley Conference standings was broken last Saturday when the SIUE women's basketball team defeated Bellarmine 64-61 at the Vadalabene Center.
