Former U.S. Sen. Paul Simon of Illinois will be on campus Monday for the third annual Paul Simon Outstanding Scholar Luncheon which is part of the Spring Symposium.
Simon will present the Outstanding Scholar award to professor of social work James Trent. Also scheduled to speak is last year's winner, professor of English language and literature Ron Schaefer.
The Spring Symposium is a two-day conference put on by the graduate school and co-sponsored by the Faculty Roles and Responsibility Committee. In addition to the Paul Simon Luncheon, a workshop on successful grant writing will take place, as well as a chancellor's reception for faculty and staff who have written external grant proposals. A display of published works within the last year in Lovejoy Library.
The luncheon will be at 11:30 a.m. Monday in the Redbud, Hickory and Hackberry rooms of the Morris University Center, and the symposium runs Monday and Tuesday.
