The Employee Recognition Program is back in action.
After three months of not functioning, this program, designed to recognize employees who perform their jobs beyond the call of duty, is being brought back.
"I was on medical leave from Dec. 19 to Feb. 26," said Shrylene Clark, training and development specialist in Human Resources. "During my absence, nothing was done with the program.
"It was not suspended intentionally," she said. "There was just no one to do it in my absence."
Co-workers, supervisors and students may now start nominating employees they feel deserve the recognition.
The selection is based on five criteria. The employee should have demonstrated excellence in overall work performance.
The individual should also promote positive morale through a congenial, supportive attitude and provide service to others.
Nominees must endeavor to improve themselves, as well as others.
This employee must exhibit initiative and creativity, resulting in improved operating efficiency of the department or the university.
Finally, the individual must have enhanced the image of the department or the university.
"You do not have to re-submit the nominations each month," Clark said. "If you nominated someone for the recognition award, then their name remains in the pool and will be reviewed each month until selected."
One employee is chosen every month by a committee of four that consists of Rudy Wilson, assistant provost for cultural and social diversity; Lora Flamm, assistant to vice chancellor for student affairs; Gloria Atkins, assistant vice chancellor for administration; and Liz Tarpey, assistant to the provost and vice chancellor.
