Frerker was looking for a good showing with only a week left until conference.

"Almost everyone on both sides had an personal record," Frerker said.

A highlight for the women's side was Carrie Carducci's 15th-place finish and breaking the freshman 5K record with a time of 17 minutes, 59 seconds.

Other top finishers for the Lady Cougars were LeeAnn Lomax (18:59), April Greenwood, (19:10), Breanne Steffens (19:28), Maria Ewersmann (19:34), Jill Irlam (19:36) and Natalie Kocher (19:47).

The women finished 14th overall.

The men finished 16th out of 30 teams at the meet.

The men were led by Jason Olszowka with a time of 25:48.3.

Other scorers for the men were Tyler Krauss (25:58), Nick Campbell (26:16), Robbie Old (26:24), David Droege (26:35), Dusin Gentry (26:42) and Steve McNamer(27:04).

The cross country teams ran their last race before the Great Lakes Valley Conference championship.

"We are progressing well," Frerker said. I'm pleased with what we've done this season, but we are not where we need to be going into the conference meet." .
