The Writing Center, located in Peck Hall, Room 1419, is the place to go for assistance with writing. Students can make appointments to discuss their papers with a member of the staff or can simply drop by to review various areas of English usage on computer. Students can even earn one hour of credit through ENG 100 for completing an independent course of study. Error analysis is a new service the Writing Center is offering. Students can drop off a graded paper for classification of the types of errors they're making so they can concentrate on avoiding them in the future. Writing hints via e-mail will be offered again this year. Students who want to receive weekly pointers on various aspects of writing should send an e-mail message to wcenter@siue.edu with the word "subscribe" in the subject line. Students who participated last year should send in another request if they want to be enrolled this year. The Writing Center can help students with writing in any discipline. Hours are Monday through Thursday, 8:30 a.m. to 8 p.m., and Friday and Saturday, 8:30 a.m. to 4 p.m. More information may be obtained by stopping by the center in Room 1419 on the first floor of Peck Hall, by calling 650-2045 or by accessing the Writing Center's Web page at http://www.siue.edu/IS/WRITING. | |
