The Undergraduate Research Academy

Greetings from the Office of Undergraduate Assessment & The Undergraduate Research Academy! We are happy to welcome you to SIUE, some of you for the first time.

During your time at SIUE, you will have many opportunities to learn and face challenges. One opportunity that you should seriously consider is the Undergraduate Research Academy. The URA is made up of juniors and seniors (and their mentors) who are interested in pursuing research in their major fields.

Applications are accepted twice yearly (October and March). Students are admitted to the academy based upon the strength and quality of their research proposal (as determined by the Supervisory Board). Information about the academy can found on our Web site at http://www.siue.edu/~deder/assess/ura.html.

The benefits of belonging to the URA are a $600 fellowship award, tuition support for your research credit hours, facilities for conducting the research project and a certificate showing completion of the fellowship. The fellowship also includes expenses related to the conduct of research up to $800, additional expenses related to the dissemination of research results up to $400 and administrative support during the research period.

So, what are you waiting for? Ask one of your professors about their research and about opportunities for undergraduates interested in research. Find out about the Undergraduate Research Academy today! .
