"The Society of Women Engineers provides me with the opportunity to be in the company of other educated, motivated women." SIUE's student chapter of SWE offers women and men in engineering-related fields a chance to meet one another and participate in both on-campus and off-campus engineering-related activities. SWE has participated in offering Girl Scout badges such as 'Math Whiz,' volunteered to help with MathCounts on campus along with going on tours of engineering-related facilities such as the Bi-State Metrolink facility in downtown St. Louis. SWE offers a Big Sister/Little Sister mentoring program at the beginning of each semester. By joining SWE, members benefit by receiving the SWE magazine, networking with women engineers in industry, accessing SWE's online resume database and job placement, invitation to the annual SWE convention, scholarship opportunities, and the list goes on!
The Society of Women Engineers has more than 12,000 professional and student members! SWE's objectives are to encourage women engineers to attain high levels of education and professional achievement and to serve as a center of information on women in the professional field of engineering. SWE is open to any student who is pursuing an undergraduate course of study towards an associate or a baccalaureate degree in engineering, engineering technology or a field related to engineering.
