Student Life Support Group

We would like to announce a student support group that will be forming in the fall semester of 2000. This group will be co-lead by Marvin Peterson, director of the SIUE Counseling Center, and Nancy Kelley, a registered art therapist. The group will incorporate verbal and nonverbal expressive approaches to supportive therapy. Art materials are provided and participants are encouraged to explore and create.

The goals established for the group are:

*Explore and develop greater independent living and social skills*

*Participate in group interaction to enhance social skills*

*Reduce student isolation*

*Reduce overall stress levels*

*Have fun and create*

This group would be beneficial for those looking for a supportive atmosphere to explore personal issues through creativity. The Student Life Support Group will meet for 12 weeks for one and a half hours beginning Thursday, Sept. 7. Please contact Peterson at 650-2197 for times and location of group. This group is free for students...
