Academic Counseling and Advising

Academic Counseling and Advising, located in Peck Hall, Room 1315, serves all undeclared students except athletes, students with disabilities and special services students.

Advisers in Academic Counseling and Advising work to help students in a variety of ways. Advisers inform students about University policies and procedures and about all aspects of degree program requirements. Advisers also aid students in the exploration of career, academic and personal goals; in the selection of a major; and in the selection of courses for each term. In addition, advisers in Academic Counseling and Advising work to help students who are encountering academic difficulty by investigating and identifying causes and suggesting remedies and by referring students to other university offices and services for help, when such referrals are appropriate.

In short, the purpose of Academic Counseling and Advising is to match the academic and developmental needs of students with the many relevant resources of the university so students can succeed in achieving their goals at SIUE.....
