The Alestle considers its customers' advertising to be an important and integral part of the paper's overall look. And, it is no mystery that ads get better results when they catch the reader's attention. Accordingly, the Alestle strives to provide its customers with ads that are both aesthetically-pleasing and information-oriented.The Alestle is guided by its responsibility to protect its readers from advertising that is illegal, false, misleading, fraudulent or defamatory.
The Alestle has the legal right to reject such advertising. This augments, but does not supersede, the "Media Advertising Policy" found in Appendix III of the Policies and Procedures Governing the Operation of the Alestle.
All Alestle advertisers assume sole responsibility and liability for statements contained in their advertising copy and hold harmless and indemnify the Alestle, the SIU Board of Trustees, its officers, directors and agents, and SIUE employees from and against all liability, loss, claim, damages, costs or expenses arising out of matter contained in the advertising copy and published by the Alestle and which is illegal, false, misleading, fraudulent, obscene, defamatory or which arises out of unfair trade practices, unfair competition, invasion of privacy, piracy, infringement of trade names, trademarks, slogans, or copyrights.
Advertisers accept these terms and responsibilities when signing an advertising contract with the Alestle.
The Alestle will make reasonable effort to exclude advertising that violates the standards set forth in the preceding paragraphs. Accordingly, the Alestle reserves the right to edit, revise or reject any advertisement.
Pay us First, Then We'll Run Your Ad
The Alestle requires payment in advance of publishing advertisements for all customers except those who have applied for and been granted billing status. To arrange for billing, fill out a credit application and return it to the Alestle for processing. For those who qualify, monthly billing statements will be provided.Billed advertisers agree to pay any and all attorney's fees, court costs and/or collection fees incurred by the Alestle for returned checks and/or other account collection efforts. The advertiser will also be responsible for any finance charges regarding late payments. Advertisers whose bills are not paid within sixty (60) days after the date on their monthly statement will be subjected to a service charge of five (5) percent per month on that part of the account in arrears of sixty (60) days or more.
