The Descendants of Robert A. Andris

My father, Fernand Andris, had a half-brother, Arthur Andris, about which I have written in several places, and particularly about his passage to the USA from Belgium in 1910. He and Emmiliene Mauriocourt Andris had one child, Robert A. Andris, who died in 1993. Robert had six children, four sons and two daughters. Over the years, I have heard from four of these six children. Michael, Robert II, Karen Rhuloff and Cheryl Rubio.

Michael, I have met personally in Marietta. More recently he was kind to send me some of the translated correspondence of Yvonne Andris, daughter of my father's Uncle Bronzé, to Arthur and Emmiliene Andris, my father's half-brother. These letters give us an insight into her life in the 1950's and 1960's.

The other three descendants, have contacted me through the miracle of the internet, primarily in response to my website. Robert Andris II wrote me an e-mail in 2001 that suggested I visit the excellent website www.ellisislandrecords.org. This suggestion led to my writing the above linked article on my uncle Arthur's passage to this country.

Years ago I had an e-mail correspondence with Cheryl Rubio of Chicago about our ancestry and a box of pictures of the Andris relatives. More recently, I e-corresponded with eldest daughter Karen Ruhloff who is currently in possession of the box of family pictures. It was she who sent me this wonderful old image of my grandmother, Victorine Andris in the original Marietta grocery store with her two sons, Fernand (my father) and Alphonse. She also sent two pictures of my father's first cousin, Yvonne Andris, in Belgium with her father and mother. You can see them in the article about my brother, Tom's visit to Belgium decades ago.
